Farmers Australia obtains data from publicly available directories, compiled databases, and partner online surveys. All data is sourced and collected in compliance with Australian privacy laws (Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) – Updated 19th April 2020). The data is made available for marketers to contact Australian Farmers with relevant offers and messages.
Farmers Australia uses best endeavours to ensure adherence to these laws and compliance with the open and transparent management of all personal information, anonymity and pseudonymity, the management of solicited personal information, dealing with unsolicited personal information and the notification of breaches of personal information security in accordance with the requirements of the law.
Privacy Compliance
Farmers Australia uses best practices to protect personal information obtained from its suppliers/partners, by following the guidelines set forth by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) – Updated 19th April 2020.
Electronic Commercial Messaging
Data held by Farmers Australia is deemed to be the business email address of the Farming operation. As such According to the Australian Spam Act, marketers can use this data if the message is deemed to be relevant to the operations, and/or job function of the recipient. Please note the following regarding the use of the email data:
The email data we hold for businesses is personalised to the contact, so it is NOT specifically opt-in for a message to be sent from your organisation.
However, you are responsible to determine if your message may be able to satisfy the requirements of the SPAM Legislation to send your message to the contacts you select.
There is a provision within the SPAM legislation that allows for a commercial message, with relevant and appropriate subject matter, to be sent to a person with a related job function if the email address is publicly conspicuous.
Many of our clients take the phone number and email address, call first and seek permission to send an email.

Do Not Call Register (DNCR) Compliance
The Do Not Call Register (DNCR) requirements related to telemarketing and the prohibition of unsolicited marketing calls to numbers listed on the Do Not Call Register may not be relevant to the Data held by Farmers Australia because the telephone/s provided are deemed to be primarily for business purposes. However, Farmers Australia will wash the telephone data against the DNCR if required (Additional Fees Apply).
Opt-Out Mechanism
If members of the database wish to be removed from the Farmers Australia database they can do so by:
1. Using opt-out mechanism at bottom of emails or SMS’s received
2. Calling the Farmers Australia Privacy Officer on 03 9686 9700
3. Emailing the Farmers Australia Privacy Officer at: enquiries@farmersaustralia.com.au
